Governor Murphy Delivers Keynote Opening Speech at the Canada FinTech Forum Hosted by Finance Montréal

Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation attended the 11th annual Canada FinTech Forum facilitated by Finance Montréal,  a landmark international gathering that aims to showcase emerging global trends in fintech, new technology solutions for the financial industry, and emerging fintech start-ups. Governor Murphy delivered the keynote opening address, introducing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Stevens Institute of Technology and Finance Montréal, a partnership to support a shared legacy of innovation. The Governor remarked: “At this pivotal moment in world history, New Jersey and Québec — as well as Canada, more broadly — have a golden opportunity to unite together, and harness our shared strategic advantages to build a better, more sustainable, and more prosperous planet for all.”

Governor Murphy gave remarks and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Stevens Institute of Technology and FinTech Montréal, establishing a collaboration where the institutions will share access to resources, markets, research, and technology, including advanced computing systems for AI and machine learning applications and product development. The partnership will utilize the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s fintech innovation hub, NJ FAST (New Jersey Fintech Accelerator at Stevens Institute of Technology), a partnership between Stevens, and leading international accelerator firm and operator, Plug and Play, and Prudential Financial which serves to attract, mentor, develop and help finance young venture companies in the fintech field.

Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation were joined by Kean University President Lamont Repollet for a roundtable event highlighting the advantages of doing business in New Jersey. Governor Murphy and the delegation touted New Jersey’s strategic location, world-class infrastructure, top research universities, and highly skilled workforce.

Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between BioNJ and BIOQuébec, a non-profit organization that promotes and represents the interests of Quebec’s bioindustry. It is the only association dedicated to the development of the bioindustry in Quebec, Canada. BioNJ is the largest life sciences association in New Jersey with a powerful network of 400 member companies representing research-based life sciences companies and stakeholders across the state. The partnership creates opportunities for both organizations to share resources and expand their reach and impact on a global scale.  “New Jersey is the home of innovation with a thriving life sciences sector reaching new heights through collaboration with industry partners abroad,” said Governor Murphy. “The partnership between BIOQuébec and BioNJ is a step forward in delivering crucial results to advance research and development, education, and overall growth by fighting for patients’ interests in New Jersey and beyond.”

Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and New Jersey Delegation Attend Agreement Signing Between  Rowan University and CGI

Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation attended an Affiliation Agreement Signing between Rowan University and CGI, a global IT and business consulting services company. The affiliation formalized a partnership between CGI and Rowan that will assist in curriculum development and student internships. The partnership also includes the potential for CGI to open a South Jersey office at the South Jersey Technology Park at Rowan University in 2027.

New Jersey Delegation Holds Roundtable with Innovobot

The New Jersey delegation and leaders from New Jersey’s top universities held a roundtable with Innovobot, an investment and innovation platform based in Montreal. Innovobot is focused on fostering innovation across various industries to address critical social, industrial, and environmental challenges. Key stakeholders from various sectors including AI came together to discuss the challenges and opportunities within the technology and innovation landscape.

Stakeholders explored opportunities for collaboration in research projects, technology development, and knowledge exchange in the fields of AI, data science, and advanced analytics.
